About this Collectable

Porsche 986 Boxster

The name "Boxster" is an amalgamation of boxer (boxer engine) and roadster and in terms of styling derived from the 1956 Porsche 550, (oa centrally mounted exhaust).
The Porsche 986 Boxster was first introduced in the year 1993 as a study model in Detroit as a low-cost alternative under the 911, which was then the only model Porsche still carried. This open two-seater was intended to combine driving pleasure, performance and elegance in one vehicle. With its unique design and powerful mid-engine, the Boxster was soon a success and a great addition to the Porsche range. Thanks to its mid-engine layout, it was (and still is) one of the best handling Porsche ever. The first generation, type 986) featured a 2.5-litre boxer engine that produced 204hp and was mated to a five-speed manual or automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the Boxster has been stripped of its entry-level image and is becoming a sought-after car among collectors and enthusiasts. The real bargains are no longer there and certainly cars with lower mileage and a clean history are rising in price in recent years.

The Boxster offered here is a very fine example with a full history. The Boxster drove its first years in Switzerland with its first owner and was sold to a Swiss who also lived in the Netherlands. Being a non-EU car, it automatically became a VAT car and has remained so to this day with the Dutch owner who took over the car after it was registered in the Netherlands. She has always been careful with it and had the car serviced by Porsche Gelderland. For a 27-year-old car, the Boxster looks very good. Only the left rear screen has a slightly higher paint thickness, the rest is, as far as can be measured, first paint. The Terracotta leather upholstery is also in excellent condition, as is the convertible top.

Our opinion

A beautiful Boxster in very good condition and unlike anything else generally for sale. The smooth-shifting automatic gearbox suits the car's character perfectly and there is nothing to fault technically either. For those looking for a (now sought-after) classic car in above-average condition and looking to take care of it, you are definitely making a good investment for the future.

About the seller

The Dutch owner bought the car about five years ago. The Boxster was for sale at a Porsche specialist and after viewing, she immediately fell in love. The feminine side of this Porsche, with a great colour combination was the deciding factor in buying this beauty. People sometimes talk about a car with a "soul", well this one has it. Due to circumstances, she unfortunately has too little time to enjoy it

Remarks
