About this Collectable
The 997 generation was available between 2004 and 2012. Porsche enthusiasts had been eagerly awaiting it. And thankfully: the classic round, signature 911 headlights are back. Over the course of eight years, some 15 different versions were released, with the Turbo and GT3 models naturally capturing the imagination, but now commanding a hefty price tag. The 997 is more than just a facelifted 996; the interior has also been completely overhauled and modernized, finally featuring an oil temperature gauge and, above all, more refined materials. Both the Carrera and Carrera S models feature a water-cooled flat-six engine of 3.6 or 3.8 liters with 325 and 355 hp, respectively. Externally, the two models differ primarily at the rear, where the S model has four exhaust pipes instead of two, and the Carrera S models have red brake calipers instead of the Carrera's black ones. Both models came standard with a newly developed six-speed manual transmission or the modified Tiptronic-S. Another innovation was the suspension, which features controlled damping as standard on the S models.
The coupe offered here is around 3.8 liters, with only 5 hp less than the previous 996 GT3 MK1, and that was a seriously fast car. It's a true "driver's" version, which in this specific trim comes very close to a GT3. So: no sunroof or rear window wiper, but with an M220 limited-slip differential, M030 sports suspension, Sportshift, sports seats, sports exhaust, and much more. Furthermore, it has been impeccably maintained by a true enthusiast. The 19-inch BBS rims give the car a nice, "thick" stance, and thanks to the Michelin PS4S tires, it handles superbly. The car was originally delivered in the Netherlands by Porsche Amsterdam and has been lovingly cared for by all its owners. The specifications with which the car was delivered in 2006 indicate a high level of enthusiast appeal.
Our Opinion
In our opinion, the 997 is a perfect Porsche. The dimensions are still manageable, the interior is sporty and modern, and the driving position is perfect. It's perfectly usable as daily transportation and therefore also a perfect youngtimer candidate. A 997 S with these options and features is rare. We've never seen a "normal" 997 that comes so close to a GT3. It has absolutely everything that makes driving extra fun. It's also originally delivered in the Netherlands and comes with a full history. The BBS wheels suit the car surprisingly well. If you want a near-GT3 experience for considerably less money, this is your chance.
About the Seller
The current owner has been a true enthusiast of the brand since childhood. Driving a 911 was instilled in him from an early age by his father, who also owned one. After obtaining his driver's license, owning his own 911 was his next goal. He found the car in exactly the right configuration at Wolbert's in Achterveld and knew from the moment he got in that this would be his Porsche. He's taken it for some fantastic drives through the Alps, along the French Riviera, and on many other beautiful roads. Unfortunately, he's moved to the big city, and parking issues and a lack of time have forced him to auction the 997 through The Collectables so it can go to a new enthusiast.

Comments
The car has signs of wear and tear due to its age and mileage, but looks very neat overall. The car has never had any damage, but some cosmetic parts were professionally spray-painted (by Vlasblom Porsche) after scraping a post. See the photos for full details. When starting the engine, a PSM message appears, which disappears immediately after driving away.
