About this Collectable

Porsche 993 Carrera 2 Coupé

The Porsche 993 is the last air-cooled 911 and a perfect combination of classic styling with modern performance and driving characteristics. Following the 964, the 993 went even further with a more streamlined body, advanced rear suspension, and a further improved 3.6-liter boxer engine. In terms of styling, the 993 set the direction for the modern 911 and once again featured an improved (and faster) 3.6-liter boxer. Naturally, many versions of the 993 were brought to market, such as the coupé, convertible, and targa. Of course, there were also the turbo and RS models, as well as some special editions like the GT2. A 993 in its purest form is undoubtedly the rear-wheel-drive-only coupé.

The Carrera 2 offered here is a beautiful example in the special Speed-Yellow color combined with a black interior. The car looks great and is equipped with the Tiptronic S automatic transmission (with steering wheel shift), which ensures above-average usability for this sports car. A 993 Carrera is still a seriously fast car, especially when equipped with the VarioRam engine. 286 hp and 340 Nm might not seem like everything, but a top speed of over 270 km/h and acceleration from 0-100 in 6.4 seconds remain very good performance figures and, thanks to the Tiptronic, are consistently reproducible without having to abuse the clutch. This 993 was delivered in Japan and, unlike most Japanese-delivered cars, has a fully traceable history. The car looks immaculate inside and out, and Porsche Classic Centre Gelderland has recently done the necessary work to get the 993 into top condition.

Our opinion

A 993 is truly a very good car and, provided it is well maintained, trouble-free and very reliable. A Carrera in this color and in very good condition is a rare find. A great opportunity for an enthusiast of the last air-cooled Porsches looking for a car with a complete history and very attractive mileage.
