About this Collectable

Porsche 993 Carrera 2 Coupé

The Porsche 993 is loved not only for being the last air-cooled 911, but also for combining its classic design with modern performance and handling. The best of both worlds. While the 964 was already a technical metamorphosis from the Carrera 3.2, the 993 went even further with a more streamlined body, an advanced rear suspension and an improved 3.6-litre boxer engine. Several versions of the 993 were launched, including the coupé, convertible and targa, as well as sporty versions like the Turbo, RS and special editions like the GT2. Still, the coupé with manual transmission remains the purest form, with both the rear-wheel-drive base version and the wider 2S and 4S variants.

The Carrera 2 offered here is a special specimen. The combination of Aventura green with a terracotta interior may be daring, but it suits the car remarkably well. Moreover, both the paint and leather are still in excellent condition. As a Carrera 2 with manual gearbox, this is the ultimate driver's car, especially as it is also equipped with a rare limited slip differential and factory sports suspension.
Despite its age, the 993 Carrera remains a serious performance car: 272 hp and 330 Nm may seem modest, but with a top speed of 270 km/h and 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 5.5 seconds, it delivers impressive performance, thanks in part to its low weight of just 1,350 kg. Furthermore, this 993 features a sunroof and the iconic 17-inch Cup2 rims. On 19 January 1995, this 993 was delivered to its first owner in Beverly Hills. In 2013, the damage-free car was imported from California by Motron and sold to its first Dutch owner, who owned it until 2022. The current owner bought the car in 2022 and has driven less than 1,000 km with it since then.

Our opinion

The writer of this story is somewhat biased, having driven a manual 993 Carrera 2 himself for more than 400,000 km without any problems and still regretting the sale. The 993 is an exceptionally reliable car, if properly maintained. This Carrera, with its unique finish and options, is just a little bit more special and offers a great opportunity for an enthusiast of the last air-cooled Porsches looking for the ultimate driver's car with a full history

Notes

Of course this Porsche has signs of use that are to be expected on a 29-year-old car, but overall the car still looks very good. Recently, the 993 was fully glass-coated. As far as can be seen, this 993 has never had any serious damage.

Recent maintenance history

The current owner has only used his car sporadically. He had expected to drive it more, but due to lack of time it is not getting there and has decided to auction the 993 through The Collectables.

About the seller

The current owner bought this 993 in 2022. He has several nice cars in his collection and immediately fell in love with the colour combination, the design and the particularly good condition of this 993. Unfortunately, he hardly ever got around to driving it and doesn't expect to get around to it in the future either. Therefore, he decided to auction the 993 through The Collectables.
