The 993 is beloved not only for being the last of the air-cooled 911s but also for combining classic styling with modern performance and handling—truly the best of both worlds. While the 964 already represented a major (technical) evolution compared to the Carrera 3.2, the 993 took things a step further with sleeker bodywork, state-of-the-art rear suspension, and an even better (and faster) 3.6-litre flat-six engine. Naturally, the 993 was released in various body styles, including coupé, cabriolet, and Targa. There were, of course, Turbo and RS models, as well as special editions like the GT2. Yet, the 993 in its purest form is arguably the coupé with a manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive—like the Carrera offered here. Light, simple, and incredibly robust: that is what makes it so enjoyable, as the 993 Carrera 2 Coupé is the lightest 911 variant after the Carrera RS, yet remains a seriously fast car.
