Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Cabriolet

In 1988, Porsche presented the 964, the last air-cooled 911 with the silhouette of the original from 1964. However, the 964 differs by more than 85% from the G-model before it. For instance, the 964 was equipped with power steering, automatic air conditioning, and ABS, among other features. Additionally, the suspension was completely modified, and the famous Mezger engine was revised and bored out to 3.6 liters. It also became possible to order the car with an automatic transmission, the Tiptronic. From the facelift onwards, an airbag also became available on the 964.

The example offered here was delivered new in 1991 with the Dutch country code (C20) and, as far as we can ascertain, was exported immediately. In 1998, the 964 returned to the Netherlands and a Dutch license plate was applied for, which was not activated until 2002. Subsequently, the car entered a trade stock until 2009, and the then-private owner purchased the car and drove it until 2014, after which the car was exported again. In January of this year, the 964 returned to the Netherlands and was sold to the current owner, who owns multiple Porsches. The 964 still looks good, starts immediately, and drives as it should.

Our opinion

For a number of years now, the Porsche 964 has been receiving the attention it deserves. RSs and Turbos now cost 300,000 euros or more. Even two-wheel drive Coupes are becoming unaffordable. Although the car has no visible history, it drives fine otherwise, and let's be honest, what could be better than driving with the top down with the roaring 6-cylinder boxer behind you?

About the seller

The 964 convertible is being sold on behalf of the current owner, who bought this car early this year without really thinking about exactly what he wanted to do with it. Because there are multiple Porsches in the fleet and time is lacking, he has decided that this 964 can go to a new owner.

Remarks

This 964 Cabriolet is in neat condition but has no maintenance history. Looking at the signs of wear, the mileage seems plausible. See all details in the photos. The right rear fender appears to have been replaced at some point. The tires are from 2022 and show little wear. The engine is leaking a bit, but the 964 brakes and steers as it should.

Recent maintenance history

Unfortunately, no maintenance history is known, nor is there a service booklet available. However, the tires were replaced with new Pirellis in 2022.
