About this Collectable
Porsche 911 Turbo 3.3 (930)
In 1974, Porsche released the first prototype 911 Turbo. 260 hp from a 3-litre engine fitted with a Turbo compressor. Only BMW released the 2002 Turbo at about the same time. This was truly unique in the passenger car world. Never before had turbocharged engines been developed for public roads. It is now commonplace, indeed Porsche is 1 of the few manufacturers that still provides an unblown engine in its GT models. After the first few thousand 3.0-litre models, the 3.3 turbo was introduced in 1977. Meanwhile, 300 hp with intercooler and power that came in more gradually, i.e. without the abrupt pressure build-up as in the first widowmakers. Although production stopped in 1989, the 930 Turbo is still considered one of the most iconic sports cars of all time. 0-100kmh went in 5 seconds and top speed was over 260kmh. For late 1970s (and still) impressive. You had to work for it, though. Four-speed manual transmission (the five-speed transmission couldn't handle the power and was only available in the last model year) and no power steering. So that's real driving! Other than that, the 930 is a great all-rounder. You can just take it to the bakery to get sandwiches and then to the racetrack at 250+ on the Autobahn. Such a 930 doesn't budge.
The 930 Turbo offered here was first registered in 1985 in Germany and was admitted to the Netherlands by its current owner in 1995. So the 930, in Preussisch-Blau metallic colour, has stayed with the same owner for 30 years! Equipped with a few nice options like a limited slip differential, sunroof and of course the Turbo seats a nice combination. It was technically well maintained by the owner who is a mechanical engineer himself. The engine has been dismantled and fitted with Dilavar cylinder head bolts by Renntech (a well-known specialist in air-cooled engines) so that the well-known ailment of broken head bolts is a thing of the past. During its ownership, it has been driven an average of over 2,600km per year, giving it only 137,000km on the odometer. Nevertheless, optically the 930 has a few points of interest, but technically it is a fine car.
Our opinion
The 930 Turbo was often used as an Autobahnbrenner for long distances by the owners who bought it new. There wasn't much better (and faster), by the way. That is why most Turbos have driven quite a few kilometres. Provided they were well maintained, no problem at all. How nice is it that we can offer you a car with only 137,000 km and 30 years of ownership? A perfect driver's copy that optically needs a bit of love and attention.
About the seller
The owner has owned the 930 Turbo since 1995 (!). A mechanical engineer himself, he was able to buy the car in 1995 thanks to a financial windfall. He had once driven a 3-litre Turbo at an acquaintance's house in Germany and was immediately sold. Since he is now a respectable age and his eyesight is getting a little worse, he decided to sell the 930 through The Collectables.

Notes
The 930 is technically in good condition. Unfortunately, the rear tyres were wrongly ordered (225-45-16 instead of 245-45-16), causing the odometer to be slightly off and the mudguards to not be completely filled. Furthermore, the bodywork has a few attention points as shown in the photos. By the way, the tyres are 14 years old, so advisable to replace anyway. The air conditioning needs maintenance. We also recommend a service when the car is put into service.
