About this Collectable
Porsche 911 3.2 cabriolet
The evolution of the original Porsche 911 ended with the 231-hp Carrera 3.2, the so-called G model. From then on, although by no means immediately visible, more than 80% of the classic concept was changed (the 964). This gives you the largest atmospheric block that has been in the classic 911. In this fun convertible, you can enjoy this with the roof open. The classic 911 was in production for no less than 25 years before the 964 arrived. Porsche did not sit still in the 25 years, of course, and kept improving the 911 step by step. The latest step in the evolution of the classic 911 was the Carrera 3.2. It is unthinkable today, but in the 1980s Porsche was actually on the verge of scrapping the 911. Nevertheless, it was decided to give the 911 another chance and the Carrera 3.2 was developed. And as it turned out, the 911 had a right to exist after all. To this day. But all that could have turned out differently had it not been for the Carrera 3.2. The 3.2 was introduced in 1984 as the successor to the 911 SC, which had a 3.0-litre engine. Porsche took this block thoroughly to task, as the 3.2 engine was 80% new. According to the factory specification, you're at 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. However, at Porsche they were always conservative with their claims, so in practice there is still more to come in terms of performance. Meanwhile, with the roof open, you enjoy the great boxer sound. The 3.2 engine not only has more power, but is also a lot more efficient and economical thanks to the Bosch engine management system with electronic injection and ignition. At the time, this was a major first on the 911. Despite the novelties under the bonnet, in terms of looks it is still truly a classic 911. Naturally, this 911 is fitted with the legendary Fuchs rims. The car is still completely original, so the picture is absolutely right.
The car was delivered new in Germany in 1988 and moved to the Netherlands in 1998. Unfortunately, the booklet was missing and the service intervals have been stamped from then on. The car has been neatly maintained by the current owner who has owned the convertible since 2007. He has since had all maintenance carried out by Porsche Gelderland. Unfortunately, the 911 fell victim to vandalism, requiring a new hood to be fitted. This was done at Porsche Gelderland last month including an annual service. So this 911 is completely ready for the nice weather.
Our opinion
Actually the first 911 convertible in its primal form. The 356 was available as a convertible, but the 911 had only been available as a G-model since late 1982. Due to its success, after that all 911 models became available as convertibles, but not as pure as the G models. If you want unadulterated convertible driving with a roaring Boxer engine in the back that makes itself heard unfiltered, you can't avoid this model. Moreover, a neatly documented car over the last 20 years with a brand new hood and equipped with the wonderfully shifting G50 gearbox that was fitted as standard from 1987 onwards!

Remarks
There are some normal signs of use belonging to a car of now 37 years old that are captured in the photos. As far as we have been able to measure and assess, the car has been repainted once. Given the stone chips on the boot lid, this was done a long time ago. The tyres still have plenty of tread, but have an older DOT code. Still fine to drive, but we recommend a set of fresh rubber if regularly driven at higher speeds. Moreover, a car will benefit enormously from this.

About the seller
Like many others, the owner had a boyhood dream of one day owning a 911. That dream came true in 2007, when he became the proud owner of this satin black 911 Carrera 3.2. He drove it, especially in the beginning, for many miles. Since then, he has moved on to another phase of life and goes out with the motorhome more often than the 91, as evidenced by the hardly any kilometres driven in the past five years. After the hood was also destroyed by a vandal and he realised that future use will not be much more frequent than in recent years (350km in 5 years...), he decided to say goodbye to the 911 and auction it through The Collectables.
