The Mercedes-Benz 280 SL was produced from 1971 to 1989 and was known internally as the R107 series. The R107 is a timeless car with the hallmark Mercedes reliability. The 6-cylinder engine with double overhead camshafts and 2.8 liters is the perfect fit for this car, especially when combined with the smooth-shifting automatic transmission. In terms of performance, the 280 was barely inferior to the 8-cylinder versions, with significantly better fuel economy. Up for auction next week is an original Dutch-delivered example in very good condition with a hardtop and all original booklets.
