A naturally aspirated, high-revving, roaring V8 sending 420 hp to the rear wheels—where else can you find that? It is a car that is usable for daily driving yet equally at home on the track, and it comes equipped with the lightning-fast DCT transmission. The early history of the M3 is defined by upsizing: moving from a four-cylinder to a six-cylinder, and finally to an eight-cylinder engine. Displacements grew from 2.3 liters to a peak of 4.4 liters in the mighty V8 of the M3 GTS. However, BMW subsequently shifted toward downsizing, giving the E9x-generation M3 a unique place in the model's history as the only one to feature an eight-cylinder engine. It is all the more significant for being the last M3 to feature a naturally aspirated engine. The ‘S65’ V8—a scaled-down version of the V10 found in the E60 M5—was developed specifically for the M3 and was named International Engine of the Year on multiple occasions. This V8 delivers its peak output of 420 hp at a staggering 8,300 rpm and has a redline of 8,400 rpm. The M3 Coupé boasts the classic look of a V8-powered M model, featuring wide wheel arches, a power dome on the hood, an aggressive front bumper, and quad exhaust pipes.
