The Toyota Corolla TTE Compressor is a legendary and extremely rare "hot hatch," built in limited numbers by Toyota Team Europe (TTE) between 2005 and 2006. Under the hood lies the well-known 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with variable valve timing—a high-revving unit also found in the Lotus Elise and Exige. TTE fitted it with a mechanical supercharger, boosting output to 225 hp and 215 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm; this provided significantly more pulling power at lower revs compared to the standard naturally aspirated T-Sport. With a 0–100 km/h time of under 7 seconds and a top speed of 235 km/h, it was a serious rival to the Golf GTI. Naturally, the TTE featured stiffer springs, modified dampers, 17-inch TTE alloy wheels with 215/45 tires, a body kit, and a sports exhaust with twin tailpipes. Reportedly, 250 left-hand drive and 250 right-hand drive units were produced. One of these extremely rare left-hand drive examples, complete with a dealer service history, is coming up for auction with us next week.
