About this Collectable

The 991 GT3 Mk2 is one of the last cars of its kind, with a high-revving naturally aspirated engine and a manual gearbox. This specific example has the Clubsport package and is finished in fitting Racing Yellow. What makes it truly unique is the fact that it has covered only 49 km from new.

A hardcore atmospheric sports car with a manual transmission is unfortunately a dying breed. Ferraris and Lamborghinis with a manual transmission have become a thing of the past. Porsche had actually also stopped offering a manual gearbox in the GT3. In fact, the 991 GT3 Mk1 was only available with PDK. There was still the manual 911 R, but that was a limited edition that sold out almost immediately.

With the 2017 facelift of the 991 GT3, Porsche did offer a manual transmission once again. Whereas the 991 GT3 Mk1 had a 3.8, the Mk2 got an atmospheric 4.0-litre engine with 500hp revving all the way up to 9.000rpm, making it an old-school purist car. Just like the GT3 RS and the 911 R. Pure sensation, in other words.

With the facelift, the GT3 received many other upgrades. To improve agility, Porsche has installed speed-dependent rear axle steering. In terms of appearance, the GT3 Mk2 can be recognised by its new headlights, taillights, front bumper, air intakes and diffuser. As a result, the GT3 looks even more aggressive than the Mk1.

This specific GT3 was delivered to its current (first) owner in 2018 by Porsche Zentrum Niederrhein and is finished in a fitting colour: Racing Yellow. It is not only equipped with manual transmission, but also features the Clubsport package. The latter means there is a roll cage, six-point harnesses and a fire extinguisher on board.

In this trim, the 991 GT3 is already a desirable package, but what makes this particular one really special: it is still new. This 2018 GT3 disappeared into a heated garage immediately after delivery and has only 49 kilometres on the odometer. An excellent opportunity for a new owner. The GT3 can be added to a collection, but is of course eager to finally take part in a trackday. If this isn't a Collectable, we don't know what is.

Our opinion

Where do we start? We can be brief about the 991 GT3 Mk2, it is fantastic. This is the last real GT3 according to Porsche enthusiasts. Atmospheric and howling up to 9,000 rpm, this one being the much wanted Clubsport version. The internet is full of raving videos and articles, enough for an evening of Porsche pleasure.

But what makes this Racing Yellow GT3 Mk2 unique is the mileage, combined with the fact that the Porsche is registered on Dutch licence plates. After all, the owner intended to enjoy it. Unfortunately, we see too often that exclusive cars without registration immediately disappear into a collection. This of course saves VAT and/or BPM (Dutch luxury tax), but owners risk not being able to register the car ever again due to changing emmission regulations. Not so with this Collectable.

We assume this GT3 may disappear into a collection, but if the new owner decides to start enjoying his new Porsche and wants to take a few mountain passes, he can. To get an idea of what a Porsche GT3 Mk2 sounds like, have a look at the 'tribute to the GT3 manual' by Henry Catchpole (video at the bottom of the lot description).

About the seller

The owner is an avid Porsche enthusiast, who has been driving Porsche for 20 years. He currently owns a 911 Carrera 3.0 SC as well. His goal was to own a GT3 one day and he achieved this by buying this fantastic 991 GT3 Mk2. So why didn't he drive it, you might ask? Shortly before delivery, he suffered several fractures in his right leg, in an unfortunate mountain bike accident. As a result, he can no longer get into the bucket seats. The owner therefore decided to sell his Collectable.
