Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet (997)
Original Dutch delivered with manual transmission and a nice history. In very good condition, low mileage and always dealer maintained.
The 997 Carrera and Carrera S models were launched in the summer of 2004. Both models feature a water-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine with a displacement of 3596 cm³, which produces 325 hp in the 911 Carrera. Due to a 3 mm larger cylinder bore, the 911 Carrera S has a total of 228 cm³ more displacement and thus higher power than the base model. Power is 355 hp at and maximum torque of a whopping 400 NM. Externally, the two models differ mainly at the rear, where the S model has four exhaust pipes instead of two and the Carrera S models have red brake calipers instead of the Carrera's black ones. Until the 2008 facelift, the diameter of the inner pipe was slightly smaller than that of the outer pipe on the regular version with sports exhaust, while the Carrera S's four standard exhaust pipes were always the same size. Both models were equipped as standard with either a newly developed six-speed automatic transmission or the modified Tiptronic-S automatic transmission. The latter offers the driver a manual mode in which gears can be shifted via the steering wheel. Another innovation was the suspension, which features controlled damping as standard on the S models.
The Carrera 2S Cabriolet offered by us is equipped with a fine shifting manual transmission and was first registered in the Netherlands by the importer. The car was used as a press car and was therefore nicely equipped. Anyone typing its registration number into Google will automatically come across it as a tested car in AutoWeek magazine. It is one of the first 2S Cabriolet versions delivered in the Netherlands and the current owner bought the car from Porsche Gelderland in January 2006 (then 9 months old). For Porsche Gelderland, it was one of (if not the very) first Porsche(s) they delivered. As already mentioned, the car has a nice lot of options such as Bose Surround, Leather upholstery Cocoa, fully electric ( sport ) seats, Carrera Gt Silver Metallic and Sport Chrono Plus. The low mileage is underpinned by a perfect service history, fully at Porsche (Classic) Center Gelderland.
Our opinion
Truly a super neat 997 S convertible. The colour combination is timeless and exudes sportiness and elegance. Few examples have come through the years so clean and unspoilt. If you are looking for a bright car with perfect history, original Dutch delivery, 18 years of the same owner and a nice piece of history too, then this is your car!
About the seller
The current owner bought the car as a boyhood dream to keep forever, hence the perfect maintenance. He was careful with it and only drove it in the summer! Mark Wegh (Porsche Gelderland) knew he wanted to buy a Porsche 911, but did not want the 996 model. When he was going to Porsche Gelderland, he offered me this 997. One of the first in the Netherlands and still to be admired in Autoweek almost 19 years ago. Taken from the garage of Pon Porsche import to his home and now from his garage to a new enthusiast.
Meanwhile owning several nice cars, he found out that some years he only drove a few 100 kilometres with the car and finally decided to sell it. A nice bright car for the real enthusiast.
