About this Collectable

For a long time, the 996 was somewhat the neglected child of the 911 family. The air-cooled boxer engines were practically considered sacred, but now the 996 is increasingly appreciated for its pure character and everyday usability. With its wide turbo body, chassis and, of course, facelifted front, the 4S was the most powerful (normal) version with a naturally aspirated engine, featuring continuous rear lights and red brake calipers. You can really push this relatively modern 911 thanks to its ample horsepower, still normal dimensions and the necessary safety systems. Try finding that in a 964 or 993 that costs twice as much. It's actually unbelievable that a 23-year-old car drives and handles so well. Even after many kilometres, they still feel solid, provided they have been driven carefully and well maintained.

This 996 Carrera 4S Coupé looks tough with its black accents, has low mileage and is equipped with all Japanese maintenance stickers. The 996 was originally delivered and maintained in Japan in 2002. Left-hand drive cars are a status symbol in Japan and are generally driven very little. Inspection requirements in Japan are extremely strict, which means that no corners are cut when it comes to maintenance and safety. In the Netherlands, the Porsche has been maintained by specialists Bossen en de Bakker and A9 Automotive in Heemskerk. Due to personal circumstances of the current owner, the car has hardly been driven in recent years. At the end of 2024, the 996 was put back into service and brought back to life by Heijnen Cars en Classics.

Our opinion

A neat 996, invoices included, as far as we know in its original paintwork and with a very attractive mileage. Drive it gently to warm it up, service it annually and enjoy the miles. A 996 is a fully-fledged 911, especially in the ‘4S’ version. With little or no depreciation and everyday usability, it is an ideal youngtimer. This one also has four-wheel drive, so you can just keep driving in winter and take a few carriers on the roof to go skiing.

About the seller

The current owner has been a Porsche enthusiast since childhood. After a 911 3.0 and a 964 WTL convertible (also sold on The Collectables), he bought this 996 Carrera4S in mint condition. A beautiful wide model, turbo body with chassis. He saw it and fell in love. As his family has grown (he has become a grandfather), the 996 4S is now available for sale to a new owner.
