About this Collectable

Porsche 911 Carrera 4S (996)

For a long time, the 996 was a bit the stepchild of the 911 family, because mirror eggs and kettle. Meanwhile, the 996 is increasingly appreciated for its sheer character and everyday usability. The 4S was the superlative with its wide turbo body, chassis and, of course, facelifted front end. Extra-wide hips, a continuous rear light and red brake calipers. The connoisseur sees it right away, a Carrera 4S with a delicious atmospheric boxer engine. Get behind the wheel of this true Stuttgarter and feel, taste and experience the true Porsche 911 feeling. We are now 28 years on from its introduction and it turns out there is nothing wrong with water-cooled. Moreover, in this generation 911, all switches are finally where you expect them, you have a perfectly working air conditioning and you can wring out such a relatively modern 911 nicely thanks to sufficient horsepower, a not too big body and the necessary safety systems. Come and find that with a 993 or G model twice as expensive. It is not for nothing that many a car journalist privately drives a 996. There is also a risk attached to the relatively low entry price for a 996. If a 911 is bought by someone who saves on maintenance, you end up buying a very expensive 911. Because in terms of maintenance (costs), it remains just a Porsche.

This well-maintained 996 Carrera 4S Coupé is a gem, both technically and optically. Low mileage, everything documented and preventively already fitted with a new water pump and IMS bearing. This is a radiant version in Arktis Silber metallic, with a chic black leather interior. Also rich in equipment including: Climate Control, Alcantara headliner and automatic transmission, but more on that later. This 996 was originally delivered and serviced in Japan. Unlike many imported cars from Japan, this one has an easily verifiable history. In the Netherlands, the Porsche was serviced by specialists Bossen en de Bakker and Marc MorsingUtter course, this is all neatly stamped and maintained in the maintenance book and demonstrable through invoices.  From October to spring, the 996 went into the garage under cover, after which it was brought back to life in the spring.

Our opinion

A very neat 996, with invoices, first paint and very attractive mileage. Warm it up slowly, give it a yearly service and put in some good miles. Don't listen to opinions, a 996 is a fully-fledged 911 and is increasingly appreciated. Literally, as prices for decent ones are also rising. With virtually no depreciation and daily usability, this is the ideal Youngtimer. This one also has four-wheel drive, so in winter just keep on driving and go to winter sports with a couple of carriers on the roof.

About the seller

The current owner has been a Porsche enthusiast since childhood and has also been a board member of the Dutch Porsche Club for 10 years. After a 911 3.0, a 964 and 993 Targa, he bought this 996C4S in New Condition. Nice wide model, turbo body with undercarriage. He saw it and fell in love. As he is going to emigrate, the 996 4S may be sold to a new owner.
