The time when you could tell what kind of engine was in Mercedes from the type designation is long gone. The Mercedes-Benz G 450 d has also broken with this tradition and does not have a 4.5 liter, but a powerful 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine with 48V mild-hybrid technology, which means the off-road vehicle delivers better performance with lower CO₂ emissions than ever before. With almost 370 hp and 750 NM of torque (plus a temporary extra boost of 200 NM), this mastodon reaches 100 kmh in just 5.8 seconds and has a limited top speed of 210 kmh. The engine is so good that even on a cold start you can hardly hear that it is a diesel. In addition, the consumption is acceptable and half that of a comparable petrol variant, making diesel a much more economical choice! Naturally, a G-class is equipped with every luxury, but the G-class retains its unsurpassed off-road capabilities with the well-known three 100% limited slip differentials.
