About this Collectable
In the 1970s and 1980s, Land Rover offered two choices. Luxury and comfort in the Range Rover, or a Spartan off-road vehicle in the Defender. Although both have been extensively modernised, they are still available for purchase and have a large following of enthusiasts. There was no middle ground until Land Rover decided to introduce the Discovery in 1989. More spacious than a Range Rover but less luxurious, with the off-road capabilities of the Land Rover but less spartan, that was the essence of the Discovery. A sturdy car that could take a beating, but was perfectly suitable for commuting or long journeys. The Discovery 2 (Disco 2), introduced in 1999, is considered by many to be the best Discovery. A clear improvement on the first model and not nearly as complex as its (fault-prone) successor.
Don't pay attention to the mileage, the original Dutch Disco 2 in our auction looks great, like a Highlander, and is in very good condition. There are some signs of wear both inside and outside, but for its age and mileage, it cannot be compared to most of the worn-out examples found on the internet. The classic British Racing Green colour scheme with brown half-leather interior looks great. This is a petrol version, which may guzzle fuel, but is allowed in the city centre! It is also a full 7-seater, so half the hockey team can come along. The handy step at the rear door makes it easy to get into the two rear seats. The Disco has been well maintained according to the original service book and has hardly been driven (20,000 km) between 2011 and 2021, as can be seen in the suspension history. The last owner used it for 10,000 km per year and had it properly maintained. In addition, his garage replaced the compressor for the air suspension. Thanks to its age of 24 years, it is ideal as a business vehicle due to the favourable additional tax liability.
Our opinion
What cool cars these are. Especially the Highlander version, which is simply a luxury SUV with full off-road capabilities, but enough comfort for a long drive. It is also very attractive as a youngtimer! Do you occasionally need to drive through mud with your horse trailer? No problem. Need transport for a children's party in the city centre? This all-rounder can do it all. Thanks to its rugged appearance, you can still show it off.
About the seller
The two previous owners used the car sporadically between 2011 and 2021, as can be seen in the service reports. The seller, a true Land Rover enthusiast, purchased the Discovery from The Collectables, but unfortunately, the car was not as popular at home. That is why he decided to sell the Discovery again through The Collectables.

Recent maintenance history
This Disco 2 has a full maintenance history. The gap between 2011 and 2022 is explained by the low mileage due to suspension (documentation available).
