About this Collectable

Land Rover Discovery II 4.0 V8 Highlander
In the 70s and 80s, you had two choices at Land Rover. Luxury and comfort in the Range Rover and if you were looking for a Spartan off-roader, you bought a Defender. Both, though very much modernised, are still for sale and have a large fan base. There was no in-between until Land Rover decided to introduce the Discovery in 1989. More spacious than a Range Rover but less luxurious, the off-road capability of the Land Rover but less spartan, that was the essence of the Discovery. A tough car that could take a beating, but was fine for commuting or long journeys. The Discovery 2 (Disco 2), introduced in 1999, has been called the best Discovery by many. A clear improvement over the first type and not nearly as complex as its (trouble-prone) successor.

Pay no attention to the mileage, the original Dutch Disco 2 in our auction looks, as Highlander, great and is in pristine very clean condition. There are some signs of use both inside and out, but for its age and mileage, not to be compared with most of the used ones found on the internet. The classic colour scheme of British Racing Green with brown half-leather interior looks great on it. This is a petrol version, which may take a sip, but it is allowed in the city centre! Besides, it is a full 7-passenger version, so half the hockey team can just tag along. Via the handy step near the rear door, you can easily get into the two rear seats. The Disco has been neatly maintained according to the original service booklet and has hardly driven at all (20,000km) from 2011 to 2021, as can be seen in the suspension history. The last owner used it 10,000km per year and had it neatly maintained. In addition, his garage replaced the compressor for the air suspension. Thanks to its age of 24 years now, it is ideal as a business vehicle because of the favourable additional tax rate.

Our opinion

What cool cars these are. Especially as a Highlander version just a luxury SUV with full off-road capabilities, but enough comfort for a long drive. In addition, very attractive as a youngtimer! Need to get through the mud with the horse trailer once in a while, no problem at all, transport for a children's party downtown? It's all possible with this all-rounder. Thanks to its rugged looks, you can still get around with it.

About the seller

The seller sold the Disco several years ago to its last owner, who recently traded it in for a passenger car. The 2 owners before that used the car only sporadically from 2011 tm 2021 as can be seen in the shorsing records. Having had good experiences with The Collectables, he decided to sell the Discovery through them.
