About this Collectable
In 2001, Chrysler showcased a concept model of the Crossfire at the North American International Auto Show. A spectacular model produced by Karmann in Osnabrück. The name is derived from the intersecting lines in the side profile, and it was the first jointly designed vehicle by DaimlerChrysler. The basis was the Mercedes SLK 320, and the Crossfire was available in two versions with the same 3.2-liter V6 base engine, the Mercedes M112: a naturally aspirated engine with a maximum power output of 218 hp and an SRT6 with a supercharged engine. The Crossfire had excellent performance; with the base engine, it reached 100 km/h in about 6.5 seconds and then happily continued to a top speed of 250 km/h. Most Crossfires came with an automatic transmission that could also be operated manually. Only 76,000 Crossfires were produced, of which a handful (255 units) were delivered new in the Netherlands. The Crossfire looked particularly impressive due to its—for that time—impressive 19-inch rims with low-profile tires.
Now in our auction is one of those rare original Dutch-delivered cars. After the car had been driven for only 3 months in 2004 as a (likely) demo at the dealer, it was sold in 2004 to effectively the first private owner, who bought it practically new. In the 22 years he owned it, he drove it an average of about 1,500 km per year, so the odometer only reads 34,000 km. As age started to take its toll, he decided to sell the car for a smaller car with a higher entry point and sold it to the current owner. He had all the maintenance performed, such as fluids, tires, brakes, air conditioning, filters, etc., and subsequently discovered that he actually doesn't fit in the car very well at all... Thanks to the low mileage, everything still feels fresh and the overall condition is neat, although there are some signs of use and age present.
Our opinion
A Crossfire is truly something special. You rarely come across them, and the model looks spectacular, especially as a coupe, with clear American accents. The fact that the car drives so surprisingly well is due to the predominantly German engineering built into the vehicle. The engine, gearbox, and chassis immediately provide that familiar feeling. A spectacular car with solid engineering for, for now, a relatively low price!
About the seller
The current owner acquired the car from the first private owner who was looking for something smaller. He had the necessary maintenance performed, but because the car doesn't really suit him, he has decided to sell the Crossfire through The Collectables.

Notes
The car shows some signs of use, some of which are age-related, such as some paint blisters on the roof and window frames and a sagging headliner. The first owner had some difficulty judging the dimensions of the Crossfire and therefore occasionally hit a curb with the rims... Technically, however, the car was completely overhauled very recently and immediately fitted with 4 new tires.
