About this Collectable
Aston Martin V12 Vanquish
Perhaps the most beautiful Aston ever, with a fantabulous-sounding atmospheric 5.9-litre V12. The now 111-year-old (!) brand launched the V12 Vanquish in 2001. Ian Callum designed one of the most beautiful Aston's ever built. The V12 produced 466 bhp and 560 Nm and sequential shifting enabled 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 306 km/h. A James Bond car pure and simple, and thus the secret agent's official car at the time. It was also the car with which Aston Martin started a new era.
The Aston Martin brand was always famous for its fast 6-cylinder and V8 engines. All of them technical tours de force, but the V12 is now also inseparable from the brand. In 1999, the brand introduced a 12-cylinder in the DB7 Vantage and not long after, this Aston Martin V12 Vanquish followed. This made it a direct rival to the Ferrari 550 Maranello, among others.
For the chassis, Aston Martin enlisted the help of Lotus, which knows better than anyone how to tackle something like this. The result is a sophisticated chassis, using aluminium and carbon fibre. Combined with the limited slip differential, this ensures that handling is at a high level in terms of both comfort and sportiness. The Aston Martin V12 Vanquish is also an iconic movie car, as this was Pierce Brosnan's transport in Die Another Day. The car, obviously equipped with all sorts of "Bond" gadgets, shone in one of the most memorable James Bond chases, with a Jaguar XKR on ice.
The one we offer is not only in good condition and low mileage, but has had plenty of (preventive) maintenance. There are less than 20,000 miles (32000km) on the odometer. This 2002 Vanquish was delivered to the USA on 3 February 2002 in the colour Skye Silver. The Vanquish does not have a "clean Carfax" as the car received a Flood Damage Title in 2006. With just 11,000 miles on the odometer, the car was imported to the Netherlands in 2017 and serviced by Aston Martin Hilversum and Cito Motors. The V12 engines are robust, but the Vanquish's well-known Achilles heel is still the gearbox. That's why it went to the specialists at Bamford Rose and AutoTech in the UK in late 2023. They completely overhauled and recalibrated the gearbox, fitted it with an E-Gear Selespeed hydraulic pump motor, giving the transmission a total upgrade and unlike anything else on offer . Total repair costs were a whopping £15,000. These repairs were carried out last year not only to rectify the defects at the time, but mainly to ensure and extend the life of all rotating parts. As a result, the next owner will have a car that is technically completely up to-date. Truly a point where this Aston Martin Vanquish V12 stands out from the rest of the offerings in Europe
Our opinion
The V12 Vanquish was (and is) one of the most beautiful Astons ever built. Of course, everyone thinks something of the gearbox. Generally "drivers" who have never driven it and only "hearsay" or drivers who don't understand how to handle it. A perfectly tuned gearbox like this just drives really well, just like a CSL or a Maserati Quattroporte. Perhaps not comparable to the current DSG/PDK generation, but the experience is all the more so. Over 332,000,- euros cost the Vanquish in 2002. Given the current price level, the fact that it houses a 12-cylinder and that only a limited number were produced, a further price drop is not to be expected.

Notes
The car is in good condition. The front spoiler shows some scratches and the rear bumper has some light signs of use, as does the interior. The Vanquish does not have a "clean Carfax" as the car received a Flood Damage Title in 2006. See also last photos. Technically, the car is in very good condition as already described. The car can be subjected to any inspection by appointment with the seller.
Recent service history
The Vanquish was recently serviced at the Aston dealer and fitted with a revised/modified gearbox in the UK. The Carfax shows a logical build-up of mileage during the period in the USA.
