About this collectable

Alpina B3 convertible (E93)

In 2006, Alpina started developing the B3. Although it was expected to feature a fat V8, a modified version of the BMW N54 came up front, known from the 335i, among others. The engine received an Alpina-specific ECU, oil cooler and, most importantly, lighter and stronger MAHLE pistons that allowed the engine to produce 360 hp and 500 Nm, which can be clearly heard via the Akrapovic exhaust system. Coupled to a ZF automatic transmission (Switch Tronic with significantly shorter gear change times), this effortlessly pulled you from 0-100kmh in less than 5 seconds!
The exterior was modified in familiar Alpina fashion with optional Alpina striping, a front spoiler with Alpina lettering, a rear spoiler and a lightweight four-pipe Akrapovic exhaust. There was also a choice of three 20-spoke alloy wheels, and the interior of course had the Alpina logos and just about every orderable BMW option and was fully customisable. The suspension is also really Alpina-style with fantastic handling and still a lot of comfort, not unimportant in the Cabriolet!

While by far the majority of cars were finished in Alpina Green II, the one offered here is the only Alpina B3 Cabriolet in the world to be painted in "Tiefgruen". The paint looks great on it, especially in combination with the black leather. In this case, the Alpina striping is absent and only on the front spoiler. The interior is also in very good condition and only the left cheek of the driver's seat shows that the car has been used. Delivered new in Germany and always serviced there at the BMW dealer until the Alpina came to the Netherlands. There, the necessary maintenance was carried out at BMW specialist JVB, who brought this Alpina to the Netherlands himself.

Our opinion

A convertible with two faces. Great driving in summer with the hood open and also unlimited use in winter because of the metal folding roof, at least if you want to use an Alpina in winter. The combination of the powerful Alpina engine and the very quick-shifting automatic gearbox make it a lovely cruiser, which is fast when it needs to be. The colour is unique and a car of this age with such a nice dealer history is rare to find!

About the seller

After having owned several roadsters of various makes, Hidde wanted a bigger convertible for longer distances. An Alpina had also been on his bucket list for years. This particular car fulfilled both wishes. He used the car for hobby drives and commuting in nice weather. The car was always stored inside to keep it tidy. What made the car extra special for him was that it is the only Alpina B3 E93 worldwide that was delivered in this colour (Tiefgrün metallic). The car may go to another owner because Hidde either wants an Alpina for daily use or another special 2nd car with manual transmission. Keeping cars for a long time is always a challenge because there are so many nice ones out there!
