The Golf 5 (V) had a relatively short lifespan. It was introduced in late 2003 and discontinued in 2008. Its successor, you guessed it, the Golf VI, had a slightly updated exterior, but was more of a Golf 5.5 than a completely new model. The Golf V featured a four-link rear axle for the first time, which significantly improved handling. Thanks to the newly developed rear axle, Volkswagen was also able to use the Golf V platform for heavier models, such as the VW Touran. However, the Golf V wasn't as successful as its predecessor, the Golf IV. Nevertheless, the Golf V was available in numerous variants and versions, with the GTi naturally capturing the imagination. The example offered here is one of the first, from 2004, has 18 full kilometers on the odometer, and was built for the Asian market.
