About this Collectable
2018 Ford Focus RS
It soon became clear in 2016 that front-wheel drive would no longer be an option for the new 350-hp Focus RS. People went to work on a system that has two electronically controlled clutches in the rear axle that made it not only provide more traction but, more importantly, more dynamics. You can really steer the Focus RS on the throttle and if you engage Drift Mode, the system sends about 70 per cent of the power to the rear axle and then also to the outer wheel. The system starts correcting only after the drift is initiated by axle power to the inner wheel. Sounds almost all too good to be true, but it really works great and still makes the competition (even now eight years later) look old-fashioned. The different driving modes really make the difference in this Focus RS. The 350hp Turbo engine is mated to a pleasantly shifting 6-speed gearbox that may not give you that last 0.2 second of faster acceleration, but it does provide a lot of extra driving pleasure. For a Ford, it was an expensive car at the time. Compared to the competition, it really was a bargain. Many were able to appreciate that and still do, as decent examples go for high prices.
The one we offer was delivered by Ford dealer Wassink in Venlo, in the only correct colour, on 22 June 2018 and maintained at the Ford dealer until 2022. For the past 2 years, the Focus RS has been serviced at Horse Power Factory, a specialist in fast vehicles. This is an accident-free car and has been cherished by the current owner for the past 2 years. The RS has had a small stage 1 modification for just that little bit extra and thus making it a bit more fun. It has had all its servicing and is equipped with all options (there was not much left to order).
Our opinion
For the amount of fun per euro, you don't really need to think twice. The Focus RS is like no other in driving entertainment and experience in this segment. The Audi RS should be ashamed of it. Besides, with the 4 different driving modes, you can play the hooligan, but also give the car to your mother-in-law to run errands. Now they are still somewhat affordable, but nice real ones are getting scarce!
About the seller
Hank bought the RS for the awd system it has. There is no other car in these classes with such a good and fun drive system. With the different driving modes, you feel like you have 4 different cars. Furthermore, he insisted on having the 2018 model because it came with the right head gasket and the new entertainment screen. All in all, he has enjoyed this car very much but it is now time for something else as it no longer suits his current stage of life.
Notes
As already mentioned, the car has undergone minor modification for just that extra bit of fun. The car looks neat, has no damage history, has had all its servicing and apart from some minor damage to the rims and signs of use to the interior and boot
